A story about finding your way home.
"Island" is a fully illustrated, 60 page short story, in landscape format. The illustrations are hand-drawn and predominantly hand-coloured. The story is essentially an adult's fairy tale with sparse, reflective text and is very reliant on the imagery. It can be taken as a simple visual poem about isolation, unreliant on an extended narrative.
The artwork was painted predominantly in stone-ground chinese ink and watercolour and much of the original work is bound in a 36cm x 30cm handmade book. Additional images were pencil drawn or painted in acrylic, with a small number of images produced in Photoshop through layering and filtering of original drawings and painted textures.

Book Details
- The finished book is 60 pages in soft-bound, A4 landscape format. The paper and print quality is of a high standard and the paper stock is from recycled paper.
- Printing of the book is done by The Picture Works, Dublin.
- This is a self-published, arist-run project. It is printed in limited runs and distributed by the author from his studio.
